News Update

Fans, friends, and supporters:

As many of you know, I recently ended a year and a half return to the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). For the benefit of those of you who may not know, let me explain. After serving God in full time evangelism for six years I was given the opportunity to return to the WWE as a consultant to their creative team and as a producer working directly with talent. After much prayer and meditation I agreed to go back to the business I grew up in and spent 25 years of my life working in.

I anguished over this decision. I had become very comfortable and happy spreading the good news of the gospel and was concerned that it would hinder my ministry. After all, I was seeing hundreds of people in my services and wrestling crusades come to Christ. Why would I want to go back to wrestling? Well, first of all, shortly after I gave my heart to Christ, the man who led me to Christ, and my best friend today, Pastor Hal Santos, told me, ?Ted, don?t be surprised if one day, God doesn?t lead you right back to the wrestling business to be a witness.? Those words rang in my ears as I contemplated whether to go back or not. At the same time God brought to mind that I must practice what I preach.

One of the things that I challenge people everywhere with is using the sphere of influence God has given them to be a bold witness for Christ. In fact, Jesus commanded us to do it. He said we must be salt and light in a dark, dying world and that we are to bear fruit. As a matter of fact, He said if a tree doesn?t bear fruit, it will be cut down. What God impressed upon my heart was that I had no greater sphere of influence than the business that I had grown up in and spend most of my life in. It wasn?t a matter of my comfort but of my obedience to what God had laid upon my heart. So in obedience to what God laid on my heart I went back to the WWE.

Now I didn?t go back to the WWE with guns blazing! I didn?t go around hitting people over the head with my bible and yelling, ?turn or burn!? I went back and tried to let people see Christ in my daily life and prayed for God to open doors of opportunity to witness to others, and, He did. Some of my old friends and acquaintances no longer saw the ?hell raiser? they once new. The way we live our life and how we treat others speaks louder than any words. To the best of my ability I let my life and actions be a witness. I tried to help those God did place in my path and there were several who I now try to keep in contact with and try to be of service to in any way I can. It?s about making yourself available. In my early walk as a Christian, my friend, pastor Hal Santos, made himself available to me at anytime I needed help. He still does! I, in turn, am making myself available to others.

I leave the WWE with no regrets and wishing them well in the future. After all, had it not been for the WWE and the opportunity afforded me by them, I wouldn?t have the notoriety and recognition that opens the doors of opportunity for my ministry everywhere I go. Even though I?ve left the WWE I will continue to be of service to them, occasionally making appearances and possibly helping to promote some of their bigger events. I will also be doing some of my own boot camps and teaching sessions occasionally as well. I was released due to cutbacks but I believe it was all in God?s timing. The week before my release I spoke at my former pastor?s new church in Valdosta GA. As I finished speaking his congregation gave me a long standing ovation that brought me to tears. Then the day before I was released a pastor I had just met prayed for me. The same day I had a voice mail from another minister. It too was a prayer. The same prayer! Those two prayers essentially asked that God would fulfill His plan and purpose in my life, that He would open huge doors of opportunity to fulfill my calling(evangelism) and that I would be given great favor with those I encountered. In my spirit I knew something was up. I said ?ok God, what?s going on here? What are you about to do?

The next day I got the call that I was being released. Instead of panic, I had a peace about it. The very next day I was on a plane to Canada to speak for Promise Keeper?s Canada. I have attended Promise Keeper?s before but this was my first time as a speaker. This event had been scheduled for nearly a year. So the day after being released from the WWE I?m on a plane headed for a crusade. Everything just seemed to fit together perfectly. Coincidence, I don?t think so. It all told me God was in control and wasn?t wasting any time getting me back into full time ministry. As I gave an invitation to over 1000 men at this PK event in Regina, Saskatchewan, nearly 800 of them responded. The organizer?s of the event told me it was the largest response they have ever had at that particular event. It brought tears to my eyes to see all those men humbling themselves before God and it was humbling to know that God had used me to do it. It was a wonderful weekend! How could it not be? When God changes lives it doesn?t get any better than that! Then just this last weekend I joined Promise Keepers Canada for a larger event in Mississauga, Ontario(Toronto area) and watched God move in the lives of over 6500 men. WOW! What an event.

One of the highlights for me was getting to meet and listen to Bruce Wilkinson (Author of the book The Prayer of Jabez). His powerful message both inspired and convicted men to get serious about their relationship with God and be willing to give everything they had for the cause of Jesus Christ.

God is already opening new doors of ministry for me. I will be co-hosting a Christian sports talk show on TV in Canada called ?Good News Sports.? The host of the show, Glenn Allan has asked me to join him for the upcoming season. The taping of these shows will begin at the end of November. As well, Glenn has another show possibly coming up that he?s asked me to join him for that will begin taping sometime in March. Both shows appeal to sports minded men and the topics talked about on these programs will deal with a variety of issues men deal with as it relates to their relationship with God. In addition I have been asked by Promise Keepers Canada to speak at another crusade in April with the possibility of more to follow. In addition I have already been talking to a few churches and organizations who are interested in doing wrestling crusades as an outreach to the lost. For example, I?m talking to one group who are doing a motorcycle rally that will run from St. Louis, MO all the way to Los Angeles CA with several stops along the way. The idea is to have different events at the stops along the way with one of those events being our wrestling crusade. This should happen in Amarillo TX the last weekend in June.

I could go on but I think I?ve talked enough. I?m excited about the new opportunities to minister that have sprung up already and looking forward to all God would lay in my path. I will miss my old friends in the WWE but I am more excited than ever about hitting the road again to take the message of the gospel to wherever God might lead me. I want to thank all of you for your continued prayers and support. Without it I couldn?t go on. Please pray that God continue to give me favor and opportunity to reach the lost and the wisdom to see the doors He is opening for me. Keep watching the calendar for information on upcoming events.

Until next time I am today and forever?

      In His grip,

     Ted DiBiase
